This year unfortunately our entries to the Winner Show were only with two imports and four males bred by us. The others were at home because they were changing their coats. Better luck next year.

The BOB and the winner title went to Äijä's (Senseo Black Wizard) gorgeous dad, Redwitch Turning Heads. The BOS and the Winner title went to Midian's Amaterasu's daughter, Inuline Carola! Huge congratulations to the winners and their owners!!

Congratulations for Yokozuna's BOB, BIG1 and the Finnish Champion title to the winner and owners Anders and Heidi! Below are photos of the handsome Yokozuna (Redwitch Turning Heads).
 
     
 
 
Paavo, Finigan Ak-Tan Callahan To Midian's was shown in the junior class for the first time and he got VG and was third in the class. Thank you to breeder Blanka Borowiec for handling Paavo and for the nice company at the show! It was great to meet you after such a long time, I will come to Poland when I'll have the time!! Below are photos of Paavo and Blanka.
 
       
 
 
Khan, Blak Jak's All Or Nothing was shown for the second time in Finland and he got an excellent and placed second in the open class. This class was won by Äijä's dad so I have to say that we didn't lose to a bad dog! Below are photos of Khan.
 
   
 
 
Thank you to all my friends for their company at Helsinki, it was very nice to see you!!! I want to thank Blanka for handling Paavo and Suski for handling Into. And congratulations to Suski for great success at the Alaskan Malamute ring!! Thank you also to Karkki for bringing Into to the show and for looking after him. Thank you Saila for showing Elvis even though you were sick. And to Nina and Jarkko thank you for showing and handling our gorgeus Niko. It was a great feeling when he placed fourth in the champion class!! Thank you Karoliina for entering Nemo to the show and to Maarit for handling him. A big thank you to Johanna for all her help and for being a hostess to Blanka. Thank you for all the great photos to Blanka!

And thank you Heidi for the nice travelling and show company, what a trip it was! Luckily we are both slim girls. ;) With all the things, crates, two American Akitas and one Icelandic Sheepdog there was no empty space left in our vehicle. It was great that we survived the trip. With three males there were no problems! It was a test of faith as our big van broke down on Friday evening at 10pm and we needed to leave for Helsinki at 4am the next morning. We made it though, once again! ;)

Ilona was third in her class at Poland's World Winner Show in 2006. For next year we are planning this beautiful girl's first litter!

May 5th-6th 2007 Tracking test Hauho
 
Midian's Endless Joy "Bertta" succeeded perfectly in the official tracking test in Hauho organized by the Finnish American Akita Club. She was the only American Akita who got Open Class 1 result from this test!! Bertta was also awarded last year as the most promising tracker in an unofficial test. Bertta is the first American Akita in Finland who has gotten Open Class 1 result from the first official tracking test. She is owned and trained by her owner Marika Venemies. Huge congratulations to you Marika, great job!!

May 1st 2007 Match Show Kauhajoki
 
Since 1996 in Kauhajoki's annual Match Show they have been giving out the "Santtu Cup". This Cup is given in honour of Giant Schnauzer Explosive Shadow "Santtu".

Santtu has the following characteristics which are also the criteria when awarding a dog with "Santtu Cup":

1. Calm and confident
2. Kind in and outside the show ring
3. A good performer
4. Has good movement
5. Easy for the judge to feel out and look at

Usually we don't put our Match Show results to our website but as we have now had the honour of receiving the "Santtu Cup" for the FOURTH time I wanted to put it on the news.

We are planning to donate a "Midian's Cup" to the organizer of this Match Show. This Cup could be given for example to the BIS dog of the show.

The judge in the Specialty was Paavo Mattila, who is a trainer for the judges in learning all about the Beagles. This takes great experience and knowledge about the breed. There were 87 dogs signed up, a few were not shown.

Congratulations to all who succeeded and thank you to all for a nice day at the show. Thank you to Paavo Mattila for placing a red & white Beagle. I believe this is the first time in the history of Finland that a red & white Beagle wins BOS in the Specialty Show, correct me if I am wrong. ;) Thank you to the organizers, it was a successful show!

New import male and female

Kennel Finigan, Blanka Borowiech, sent us two puppies who will bring a new line in regarding my breeding program, but first we will have to wait and see how they grow up.  One of these puppies is going to a co-ownership home. Brawley's and Dara's female puppy Midian's Lady Finigan went to Blanka in Poland in return.

Due to many misunderstandings we will add the following text:
Blanka and I exchanged the female puppies together, Finigan Ak-Tan Catinga to Midian's "Pamela" to me and Midian's Lady Finigan to Blanka. "Paavo" Finigan Ak-Tan Callahan to Midian's was bought by me. We would like to clarify this as many people think that I got two puppies in return for one. This is not the case at all. Only the girls were exchanged. Thank you!

A gorgeous co-owned male Äijä (Senseo's Black Wizard) arrived from Denmark in December and now lives with his co-owner Anne Granström & Hannu Vehniäinen in Konnevesi. Äijä is an outgoing and fun fellow. We hope that he will grow up to be a healthy and handsome stud. More information and photos of this new arrival later.
